Recently, YouTube has gone gun ho on copyrighting gameplay. I understand Google might be under pressure by the publishers to make this happen. But why? This part I will not understand. I understand it's your art in the game, but how can this hurt you?
Many people use gameplay videos to decide whether or not to purchase your product. If the purchase is not made, they did not like your product and will not support the product and move on. Are initial sales that bad? Most commonly for me, if I watch a gameplay it makes me want to buy it more.
In an personal story, I did not buy GTA V until I saw several videos on it. Which the videos made me want to buy it. Initially, I was going to pass, but because of the videos I shelled out over $60 to buy the game.
